Today we had a review day for the quiz tomorrow covering 10.1 - 10.3

TUESDAY APRIL 7TH

Today we finished 10.3 discussing various formulas for 3-D figures.

Tomorrow will be a review day for the quiz on Thursday over 10.1-10.3

WEDNESDAY APRIL 1ST

Today we took the first 15 minutes finishing up the test from Monday.

After students took a quick quiz over 10.1, 3-D figures.

We began 10.2 today, and will finish the section tomorrow before the long break.

There is no homework for tomorrow!

I will not be in school tomorrow, so I will see all of you after our long break! :)

TUESDAY MARCH 31ST

Today we learned discussed Chapter 10 Section 1 3-D Figures.

Students constructed nets and identified basic terms for 3-D figures.  They also discussed what a cross section was of a 3-D figure.

THURSDAY MARCH 26TH

Students took the group test today.

**If you did not finish the test, then it is due by 4:00 TODAY! Please come in and get it completed.

ATTENTION: The INDIVIDUAL TEST will be pushed back for MONDAY.

TUESDAY MARCH 24TH

Students took a quick quiz on 9.6 Geometric Probability.

We reviewed for the group test Thursday and Individual test Friday.

Tomorrow we will have a continued review. Students are encouraged to come in after school for extra help if needed.  Make sure to arrange this time with me, so I know.

Today we finished 9.6 discussing geometric probability.

Tomorrow we will take a quick quiz over 9.6 and have Tuesday and Wednesday to review for the Group Test on Thursday and Individual test on Friday.

FRIDAY MARCH 20TH

Today we took a quick quiz over 9.5.

Today's lesson was on Geometric Probability.  What we did not get done today we will pick back up with on Monday next week!

Test is looking to be Thursday or Friday depending on how much review we have at the beginning of the week.

Students: Please attempt to get through as much of the basketball problem for Monday to be ready to discuss your procedures in class with your classmates. Save the dart board problem for Monday to be done in class.

Today we discussed 9.5 what changing dimensions of pizza does to area/circumference/perimeter.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 18TH

Today we covered how to find the area of irregular figures using a variety of strategies including Pick's formula.

Students took a Quick Quiz over 9.3.

Students are coming in for extra help today at 2:00 and 3:00.  I will be available to talk to up until about 4:00. Email me if there are any additional questions.

Homework: Find the area of your hand in square units on the packet and complete the problem from the book mentioned on your packet.

Tomorrow we are covering how changing dimensions change various figures. (Theme: Pizza)

MONDAY MARCH 16TH

Today we began 9.2 dealing with areas and properties of circles and regular polygons.  We will finish 9.2 tomorrow and begin 9.3 Composite Figures. 

Homework: Page 603 #2-5, 18-25, 27, 33, 34, 36, 37, 40

We will have time to go over these problems during tomorrow's lesson.

THURSDAY MARCH 5TH

Handed back the chapter 6 test today.

We began our discussion on chapter 9, areas of 2 dimensional figures.

Homework for tomorrow: Finish the packet that was handed out today. There were problems on two sides of the packet that will be checked tomorrow dealing with calculating the area of the figures shown.

I will not be at school tomorrow.  Mr. Sondgeroth will be covering for me.  I have a seminar I need to attend at ISU.

Today we finished our exploration on 6.4 with a few handouts and assigned book work for students to practice their problem solving skills.

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 18TH

Today we took a quick quiz over 6.3.

We began 6.4 which dealt with rhombuses, squares, and rectangles and theorems/properties associated with these figures.

There was a "proof handout" that was given to the students to prove these properties from each figure's definition.

 Welcome back from a 3 day weekend!!!

Today we discussed 6.3 dealing with conditions of parallelograms and how to determine if a quadrilateral is a parallelogram based off of a few properties and given information.

Be prepared to take a quick quiz over 6.3 tomorrow and cover 6.4 as well!

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 10TH

We discussed Chapter 6.1 "Polygons".  This chapter included the classifications of polygons, and properties associated with the angles of a given n-gon. 

There is no homework for tomorrow, although students should be prepared to finish 6.1 and begin 6.2.

6.1 and 6.2 Homework is going to be due on Thursday, so getting a head start on 6.1 is high encouraged to get a lot of the work done and lesson the load for Wednesday night!

Thursday is review for the quiz on FRIDAY over 5.1-5.3 and 6.1-6.2

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 6TH

Today we discussed the significance of the medians of a triangle and the centroid it creates. We also took a quick quiz over 5.2 as well.

Congratulations to the winners of our centroid balancing game!

7:00 and 8:00: There is NO homework for the weekend.  Be prepared to finish 5.3 on Monday and have a quick review over the 3 sections.

Today there is going to be a review session for anyone looking to retake the test at 3:00 in the same room. In addition, students looking to retake need to get the packet from me that is due on Monday.  If you are not able to come to the review session and did not pick up the packet, please email me at rmvrana@ilstu.edu and I will send one to you via email.

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 5TH

Homework:
Page 311 # 2, 11-15, 20, 22-28, 30-31, 36

We covered the Perpendicular and Angle Bisectors of Triangles today and their unique point they create.  We also discussed the properties associated with these points in regards to the triangles.

*Again, bring your laptop fully charged to class tomorrow to begin working on GSP constructions.

Test retakes we will go more in depth tomorrow. Students will be given a packet over the weekend to prepare for the retake and will also be given a review day Friday after school to prepare.  Retakes will be due by the end of the day Tuesday.

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 4TH

Covered 7.1 today dealing with the perpendicular and angle bisector theorems!

We will hand out the tests tomorrow.  The grades are posted online.  We will discuss any questions over the test tomorrow in class.
